PolyProse

For Drafting, Revising, Editing, & Annotating Prose

Just Wanted to Give an Update.

So far, I’ve shared Ever Becoming, The Genesis of Dust, and The Sage of Shadows. I wrote each of them in 24 hours, and I loved pushing myself. Writing this kind of flash fiction has felt cathartic. It was a challenge to come up with a concept, draft it, and revise it so quickly.

I’ve noticed a rapid improvement in my writing while revising my debut novel. I thought my passion project was already at a high skill level, and to some degree, it is. The people I’ve shared it with—readers and people formerly in the industry—have given me very little criticism. I’ve heard chapter 1, at least, is publication-ready. However, I won’t know for sure until it reaches a public audience.

Writing parables under a 4000-character limit has made me more aware of word economy. In a novel, there’s some wiggle room for clunky prose. In my parables, there is not. I’m applying these new skills and insights to my book, which means I won’t be posting every day.

My posting schedule will look like this:

  • Mondays and Thursdays: Writing advice posts.
  • Saturdays: A new parable.

I want to give myself time to revise my novel. One parable a week also means the short-form content will be of a higher quality. To keep you all in the loop, I might share screenshots of my revision process. To keep my streak, I might just post quotes. I know I don’t have many subscribers right now, but I believe more could come unexpectedly. I want to keep everyone informed.

If you’re excited about this new schedule, please tell me! If you have a different idea of what you’d like to see, don’t be scared to share.
